Based in Ohakune NZ, at the southern entrance to the Tongariro World Heritage National Park and Mt Ruapehu ski-fields, the Ruapehu Cabins are conveniently located beside the main highway (SH49) within 200 metres of the Ohakune town centre.

Traditionally an agricultural town with a history of market gardening and milling, Ohakune is ideally located for summer and winter activities on the North Island's volcanic Central Plateau.

With the development of the Turoa and Whakapapa ski-fields on the slopes of Mt Ruapehu, Ohakune rapidly expands during the winter months to become the North Island's main winter ski holiday destination.

How To Get Here

There are several possibilities including train, bus service or private car. The travel time by car from Wellington is about 3.5 hrs and from Auckland it is about 4.5 hours. Ohakune is an hours drive from Wanganui and 1.5 hrs from Taupo.
